Signing the Covenant

Following our weekly Vespers meeting, we officially came together to sign the covenant. The covenant is a document which officially describes our intention to live together in a community and outlines agreements we have made with each other which we hope will be conducive to a harmonious community.

(In my own words, we have now officially agreed to be a community where we look out for the needs of each other over our own needs and thereby have officially agreed to grow in friendship and love! Super exciting. Though it is good to remember that this agreement can be challenging, by signing we’ve ultimately agreed that the challenge is so worth it. I love community.)

This week the Bethany House was blessed with the presence of six guests as we came together to share a meal and conversation. Dana and Leslie, our hosts for the week, came all the way from Princeton where they are still suffering with a lack of electricity. Despite this hardship they still cooked a full and delicious meal for us, using very ingenious methods. We are so grateful to them for the work they put into preparing the food and we are so grateful to Dr. Jane who provided the salad. Overall the evening was very pleasant and was improved by a comfortable discussion about the pros and cons of living in community led by Wayne Meisel.

Again, we are so grateful to everyone who contributed to this evening.
